Hi Ivy Families! I hope you are enjoying the long weekend! I want to highlight a couple amazing service projects that have been developed by our own Ivy Eagles over the past weeks. As our students looked forward to Valentine’s Day, they were also thinking about other kids who would miss out on the fun of receiving valentines. Our student council felt the need to help some other children and decided to ask our entire school to create valentines for kids who are at the Almost Home Kids facility in Naperville. This facility provides transitional care in a home-like setting to children with complicated health needs, training for their families and respite care. The staff was thrilled to receive so many valentines from our Ivy Hill students and shared it made all the children smile and feel extra special! Another service project I would like to highlight is H.S.P.M.D. (Help Save People with Medical Disabilities). This began last year with a couple students having an idea of helping children by raising money for Comers Children Hospital. That one idea has expanded this year into a group of about 10 girls in Ms. Mekky’s 5th grade class. The students have consistently demonstrated dedication, hard work, responsibility and persistence to make their dream a reality. Thanks to everyone who has donated so far! You are truly showing our students how a small idea can become reality with hard work and support from others! For more information about H.S.P.M.D. please see the attached flyer. Finally, I just wanted to remind everyone that we don’t have school on Monday, February 15th. Have a great weekend and see you all on Tuesday! Scott
