Hi Everyone! We had a great week with our 5th grade patrol attending a Boomers Baseball game and then the entire 5th grade visiting Camp Edwards for a day filled with outdoor adventures! Thanks to the Ivy Staff for all their efforts in making these experiences memorable. Enjoy the long weekend and we’ll see everyone on Tuesday! Scott Field Day - Friday!Field Day is Friday, June 2!! The kids will be outside, weather permitting, The school staff/parent volunteers cannot put sunscreen on the students, so please do this at home. Bottles of water are a good idea too! We are in need of volunteers in both the morning and afternoon sessions. We are also in need of water balloons. Please visit this link to sign up today!! Volunteer for Field Day! Home Toys at SchoolAs the weather becomes warmer and students begin to look forward to the summer, it’s a great time to remind students of our expectations about bringing toys from home. Even though kids are excited to share their new things, it can be a distraction in the classroom and upsetting if they are lost during recess. Please remind your children to leave their toys (ie. Figets, Rubik’s Cube, Sports Equipment) at home unless there has been a special arrangement made with the classroom teacher. I appreciate your support and understanding. Stop Breast Cancer Now (SBCN) EventOur final 5th grade personalized Learning project will be happening on Tuesday May 30th from 3:45 - 5:00pm. The students are planning a fun after-school event that includes various games in the gym, Arts and Crafts, music and dancing, Rubik’s Cube Competition and much more! All proceeds will go to Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University. Unfortunately we are no longer accepting permission slips for this event. Hi Ivy Families! I hope you were able to get outside this week and enjoy the warm weather. Summer is just around the corner! This week was Allergy Awareness Week! It was highlighted by two of our 5th grade students who organized a fundraising event and school assembly. The students goal was to create awareness while helping create a lasting impact at Ivy by designing an “Ivy Cafe” where kids can play, talk and share stories in an allergen safe environment. Thanks to everyone who donated and to the staff members who were selected to have “Pie in their Face”! I can't wait to participate in our first "Ivy Cafe" before the end of the year!! Hi Ivy Families! Thanks for another great week! I want to wish all our Ivy mom's a Happy Mother's Day! Enjoy the weekend and see everyone on Monday! Scott Allergy Awareness WeekNext week we will be celebrating Allergy Awareness Week. Our TealTakeOver Day will be Friday, We encourage all our students to wear the color Teal to show our Ivy Support for Allergy Awareness. To also raise awareness, two of our 5th grade students have created a personalized learning project that focuses on Allergy Awareness. Their goal is to create a “cafe” at Ivy Hill for students with food allergies and their friends to share experiences, play games, and learn more about living with food allergies. They hope to purchase supplies and materials to make our “cafe” a reality! To raise money and awareness, we are going to have a Pie Face Challenge with 10 teachers/staff from Ivy Hill who receive the most votes. You can vote for a teacher/staff that you want in the challenge. Each vote costs $1. You can vote for as many teachers as you want! Check out more information below.
