Hi Ivy Families, We had a terrific week of school, highlighted by our spectacular 5th grade show! Thanks to Miss Conomikes and all the parent support to help make their final performance such a special one! We also were treated to a visit from Brody Roybal, a Paralympic sled hockey player. He has won a gold medal with team USA at the 2014 Winter Paralympics and the 2018 Winter Paralympics. Brody encouraged all our students to set goals for themselves and to “go for it” while embracing our uniqueness. Such a powerful message! We are looking forward to spending our last full week together of the 2018-2019 School year! Have a wonderful weekend! Be Courageous, Be Kind Scott Field Day-June 1stField Day is Friday, June 7th. Hi Ivy Families, Over the past four days I have been studying Race, Equity and Leadership at Harvard University in Boston. To say that this experience was life changing, would be an understatement. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experiences through conversations and new initiatives to help create an even more equitable learning community at Ivy Hill and beyond! I am also excited that on Monday, we will be hosting students from Japan. The students are from Shitara and Tsugu Middle School. Both of these schools were ones I visited on my trip to Japan earlier this year, so it will be great to reconnect with the students and show them around Ivy Hill! Be Courageous, Be Kind Scott Ivy Hill Food Drive Ivy Hill PTA is holding a FOOD DRIVE the week of May 20th-24th. Please donate non-perishable food items like peanut butter, pasta, rice, canned veggies, fruits, meats and fish, cooking oil, crackers, cereal, soup, etc. Kids should bring items to their classrooms and parents can drop off in the box in front of the office. Below is what Bernie's wrote: Your 1,600 books goes a long way. These books you graciously donated enable us to serve 133 children with 12 books this year. You have gotten us one step closer to our goal: distribute 3.6 million books to the 300,000 children in need throughout the Chicagoland area. Reuse-A-Shoe Program We collected 156 pairs of shoes! These shoes will be distributed to victims of natural disasters around the United States and the world.
