Ivy Hill Parents!
I’d like to wish you all a Happy Holiday break! I hope you all have an enjoyable time with your family and friends. We had an exciting end to 2016 at Ivy! We celebrated with an “All-School Read In and Around School Day”, mixed with “Pajama Day”, with a twist of a “Mannequin Challenge” for each grade level. We had so many smiling and excited faces wandering around the school to find a special “nook” to read with their friends! Be on the lookout for the grade level links to the challenge! A special congrats to our 1st graders and Ms. Hennessy for putting on an amazing performance for our entire school. The title was appropriately named, “The Big Chill” :) PTA News Lunchtime Readers coming soon in January! Lunchtime Readers is a program sponsored by the Ivy Hill PTA. Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade are invited to participate. Once a week, for six weeks, parent volunteers lead a book discussion group during the half-hour lunch recess. A display of this year’s book choices can be found in the Ivy Hill LMC for your child to preview. Please fill out the attached 3rd, 4th and 5th grade registration forms: 3rd Grade Registration Form ; 4th and 5th Grade Registration Form. See the attached book list: Book List. As we prepare for our final week of school before break, a couple quick reminders for everyone. Weather: As we look ahead to next week and the weather forecast of more snow and colder temperatures, please remind your children to dress warm with coats, gloves and hats. All students will going outside as long as the "Real Feel" temperature is above zero degrees. Students who want to play in the snow must have a coat, boots, gloves and snowpants. For students who wish not to play in the snow or are missing one of the items, they will still go outside and play on the blacktop. Students may not stay inside due to the temperature being cold. Also, please take a moment to read the attached letter from Dr. Bein regarding Inclement Weather and School Closings. Drop-Off: As the temperature is becomes colder, we have more families driving to school. To help expedite drop-off in the morning, please be sure to pull all the way to the end of the drop-off zone. Also, for your child’s safety, please make sure they only exit the car curbside and cross at the cross-walks. Please click HERE to find more information.
