Hi Ivy Hill Families!
Thanks to all the parents who attended conferences as it was nice seeing everyone so invested in creating such a supportive learning community. As we prepare to head-off for Spring Break I wanted to share a couple quick reminders. If you haven't already, please sign up for Just Move It Challenge to help Ivy Hill win the participation award using this link http://jmichallenge.org/ Start collecting your new and gently used books (suitable for K - 6th graders) for the Ivy Hill Book Drive which will take place 3/30 - 4/13. Collection bins will be located in the Commons area. All these books will be donated to Bernie's Book Bank to increase book ownership among at-risk infants, toddlers & school age children throughout Chicagoland. Please put your books in a plastic bag with your name and grade on it before placing them in the bins as we will be holding a raffle for prizes at the end of the drive. If you have any questions, please contact Michelle Derochowski, [email protected], We will also be holding our "Reuse-A-Shoe" drive, plastic bag collection and E-Waste drive during Earth week, April 18 - 22nd so start collecting your old used shoes, plastic bags and old small electronics such as cell phones, digital cameras, IPod devices...as well. Finally, we return to school on Tuesday, March 29th. Have a fun-filled and relaxing break!! Scott Middle School Creative Arts
Dear D25 Families, We are excited to share the Middle School Creative Arts Website with you. This resource has been created to give you more information about the Creative Arts classes that will be offered at both South and Thomas next year. Each middle school will be sending out information on the scheduling and selection process students will follow later this Spring. If you have any questions about the Creative Arts courses, please contact Nick Filipowski at 847.228.2061 or [email protected]. http://d25creativearts.weebly.com/ PARCC In April, students in grades 3 through 5 will be participating in the PARCC (Partnership for the Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers) Assessment. The PARCC assessments identify students' current performance, point the way to what students need to learn to be ready for the next grade level and, by high school graduation, for college and/or a career. PARCC will be administered as a paper-based assessment in grades 3 through 5. During your child’s testing window, you can help your child do his/her best on the test by:

I wanted to start this week’s reminders with incredible news about our HSPMD (Help Save People with Medical Disabilities) fundraiser. Ivy Hill was able to raise $1,400 for the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital! We are so proud of our students who created this fundraiser, as well as our school community who rallied behind them and supported their efforts. If you would like to read more about this extraordinary project, please see the article below from the Chicago Tribune. http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/arlington-heights/news/ct-ahp-ivy-hill-social-activists-tl-0303-20160301-story.html We have some great events coming up next week! On Wednesday, March 9th the district will be hosting "Teachnology" at Thomas Middle School. This event is free for all families and we have many Ivy Hill students presenting. Please see the attached flyer for more information. We also have the PTA movie night for K-2 students on Friday, March 11th. We are looking forward to pajamas, popcorn, and friends! Prior to spring break we will be holding our parent teacher conferences on March 17th and 18th. Please contact your child’s teacher if you still need to schedule your conference or if you have a scheduling conflict. Additionally, all district art teachers will be attending a conference during parent teacher conferences and will not be available to meet with parents. Please see the attached informational letter regarding this. Have a great weekend and looking forward to the upcoming week! - Scott |
