Welcome Back Ivy Families!
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and New Year celebration! With the new year upon us, we are always looking for ways to help build and strengthen our home-school connections. The best and most effective way to share your thoughts is in person by giving me a call, sharing an email, or setting up a time to meet. I’m always willing to listen as you are an important part of Ivy Hill. The LMC is in need of parent volunteers to help with small projects and shelving of books. We would appreciate any amount of time you can spare. Click on the link to see the January calendar time slots. Type your name in each box that you can attend. Thank you so much for your help! 5Essential Survey: How does Ivy Hill rank according to the 5Essential Survey? This survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of our school. As a parent, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness. You have until the end of the month to provide feedback for this state survey. You can use the following link 5 Essential Survey 2017-18 Kindergarten: I can’t believe we are getting ready to talk about next year! Within the next couple weeks you will receive more information about Kindergarten Pre-Registration (ONLY) for the 2017-18 school year and the process that follows. In the meantime, feel free to call the office with any questions you may have! Valentine’s Day: Valentines parties are scheduled in elementary classrooms for Tuesday, February 14. Room reps should double check with their classroom teachers to verify the start time. If your child is passing out Valentines cards to other students, the cards cannot have any candy or food attached to them. Trinkets such as pencils, erasers, stickers, etc., are great alternatives as long as they are not edible. Items such as goodie bags filled with treats or candy are also not permitted. We greatly appreciate our room reps and all of our volunteers who organize and provide fun Valentine's experiences for our students. PTA News: Box Tops/Shoparoo Committee - Don't forget to submit your Box Tops and scan your receipts into Shoparoo until 2/3/17 to be entered into our next raffle! This month's prizes for Box Tops will be three Berry Yo gift certificates. Two winners will be chosen for Shoparoo and will each receive a Half Price Books gift certificate! Lunchtime Readers - Registration Deadline Extended! Lunchtime Readers is a program sponsored by the Ivy Hill PTA. Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade are invited to participate. Once a week, for six weeks, parent volunteers lead a book discussion group during the half-hour lunch recess. A display of this year’s book choices can be found in the Ivy Hill LMC for your child to preview. Please fill out the attached 3rd, 4th and 5th grade registration forms: 3rd Grade Registration Form ; 4th and 5th Grade Registration Form. See the attached book list: Book List.
